Body image.
I made a private tape not too long ago about how I feel about my physical body image and what I thought about it. In my opinion I think that body image is overrated because nothing about the way I look on the outside says anything about who I am on the inside. Because I can look great on the outside but I am dead inside. Instead of focusing about what we look like physically why don’t we focus on who we are as a person and how we treat others? The most important thing about you is not the way you look, it’s not your clothes, it’s not your shoes or your physical appearance but who you are as a person. You can only go so far with your looks, whereas if you have a great personality and welcoming nature you can go really far in life well that’s how it should be!
But this society is so keen and hyper focus on body image that the hot and beautiful People are always praised for their appearance even if they are shitty people.( sorry for that word I couldn’t find any other word to describe them better but I don’t swear in real life). One thing I realize is that the people who truly love you don’t give a bread about what you look like, and you yourself don’t value someone based on what they look like. The people that I love is not because of their appearance or what they wear; I love them for their nature or the way they are as a person.
Now with all that being said do I still care about the way that I look? Yes! I do and I would be lying if I said that I didn’t. From a very young age I was made conscious to the fact that I was lacking some features that other girls had, people would tell me I look small or that I need to eat… to be honest at first I was fine with the way that I looked until I went to 3th grade until I saw some girls that I deemed was beautiful or with the ideal body. Well at that time I wasn’t conscious that I was small because I skipped a grade and on top of that some of those girls were held back therefore they were way older than me.
At the present moment I don’t like discussing insecurities and body image because that topic is very sensitive to me but I am
Slowly beginning to accept the way that I look. I needed to work through all of that on my own because no one can make me accept myself until I truly want to.
Yesterday my mom said something that I truly find encouraging she said “ God created you the way that you are because he needed someone just like you to be created so don’t worry about what others think because God want you the way you are” when she said that I almost wanted to cry! Because I was going through a panic attack and she was there to boost me up mentally. I don’t know where I would be without her… she is my back bone.
Back to body image…
Until you realize that you have a bunch of other stuff to care about and how many beautiful things life has to offer you won’t be too focused about what you look like anymore. Everyone is on their own journey so don’t ever feel like you need to accept the comparison you or someone else’s made about you to someone else because simply you think they look better than you; notice how I said don’t ever accept the comparison because you will compare yourself to someone else again because you’re human but just simply reject the thought because you have no idea what that person is going through, they could have it worse than you.
