In my 28 years of living I am not bitter that I haven’t found love. I am still young and my heart will not age, there’s no difference if I fall in love now or when I’m 50 years old. I would still love the same if not better because with age often comes maturity. The people I thought I loved when I was 20 would never be enough for me now, they’re great people but we aren’t on the same path and that’s okay. Love is not enough for a great relationship you need compatibility, respect, consistency, communication, dedication and the mental capacity to be there for someone.
As someone who struggled with depression in the past I wouldn’t have been a great partner! I wouldn’t have the capacity to be there for them emotionally even if I wanted to and that’s why I never tried to be with anyone. One thing I love about me is that I am self conscious I know when I don’t have the capability to do something and I accept it because I am human. I know when I am not right mentally and emotionally so I will take a step back to reflect until I feel better.
Now it’s a different ballgame, I am happier and I am not depressed at all thank God. I have things to work on but my mental health is not bad at all and I am grateful for that because it’s been really tough in the past.
If I am in a relationship with someone and I am having a bad day or I am upset about something that has nothing to do with the person I won’t bring that in the relationship. I will tell him what’s going on because I won’t let him be blindsided but I won’t take it out on him. I would take a step back and come back when I’m fine. I don’t like to bring bad energy, I want to make people smile and happy because I know what it feels like to be sad. I don’t want to make my man sad, I want to bring him joy.
