Big eyes. 

A must watch.

It’s a movie on Netflix that I find weird but interesting. It’s the story of 2 painters one successful and one that isn’t successful at all. Margaret is a painter she has a daughter and she is a divorcee. It was in 1958 and it wasn’t easy for a woman to find work let alone to be a single mother; the husband had to give the wife’s permission to work! So she set out on her own to find a job and a place to live with her daughter. 

One day, While she was painting on the street she met a man who was painting nearby and he had ask her out. They began dating and eventually got married.

Margaret used to paint those big eyes that looked very interesting and weird. Her style of painting was new but refreshing. Margaret’s husband Walter used to paint street corners well that’s what he says he painted. Turns out he never painted anything in his whole life he just steals people’s work and he did the same with his wife’s work. She used to paint those little children with big eyes with her marital last name which is the same as her husband so naturally people would assumed it was his work. 

She used to stay at home painting while her husband bring the paintings out in art gallery and into the world making a lot of money. He was the face of her work and she was the artist in the background procuring all of the art pieces. 

One day she made a huge painting for unicef with children from all over the world but someone wrote in the paper that the painting was “grotesque “ Walter got mad at his wife and threaten to burn her alive along with her daughter. Margaret ran away to Hawaï with her daughter to start over her life but she didn’t allow anyone in the house because she was afraid that people will discover that she was the real painter behind the big eyes. She got a call from her husband asking more paintings because the day that she escaped her husband burned all of her paintings. Her husband asked her 100 more paintings in exchange for her freedom. She agreed but right after 2 ladies from the Jehovah witness organization came by and give her the good news about Gods kingdom, she began serving Jehovah and she also read that 

“A worshipper of Jehovah must be honest in all things. “

So she decided to tell the truth and take credit for her work. Her husband tried to prove that she was lying but he couldn’t even paint anything to prove that he was a painter!
