It’s not all roses and sunshine.
When I was growing up I never thought marriage was a fairytale, needless to say my parents were not married and my mother raised me as a single mother. I never saw her get acquainted with any man, she never set an example of what love is supposed to look like between a man and woman. I don’t blame her and I actually love her for not exposing me in any toxic love environment, she protected me in the best way that she could and I vowed to do the same for my kids when I have them.
I am not blaming my mother for not being able to show me what true love is because she showed me the best kind of love there is; it’s the selfless love. She is the kindest human being I have ever met, she will help just about anyone and she will never feel bad for doing it. I never thought about marriage and I always felt like it was something people did when they were tired with life! I always wondered why would someone want to live with another person for the rest of their lives? In my mind I didn’t see it as a way to express love I saw it as a way to give someone power over you and I hated that! I still am not 100% okay with marriage but I am 79% leaning towards it. When I was 21 I was not thinking about being married one day, I just wanted to be happy alone. Now honestly I am still not thinking about marriage but I am thinking about traveling the world… falling in love, well of course I will date to marry but i just want to be happy first. I think I want kids more than I want to be married! And if I don’t get married I will adopt my kids. I’ve never have a good relationship with men, it was never smooth sailing but one thing I know for sure is that I really want kids. :) I guess if I get married it’s mostly with the intent of having kids of my own.
