Barbie

Finally, I  was able to watch Barbie ! It was a great movie :)

The beginning of the movie reminded me of the Truman show movie with Jim Carey. If you thought that this movie is just about girly things and all pink you’re wrong because it’s really not. I love the way this movie represented women; we are not always perfect, our breath doesn’t smell like roses in the morning (which is okay that’s what mouthwash was made for) we are not always happy and that’s okay. Women are not accessories, we have feelings and goals in life.

I love that all the women were  Barbies and it didn’t matter what they looked like. There were pregnant Barbie, construction Barbie, space Barbie and etc…  I love how in control Barbie was of her life and it’s truly inspiring

Everything was all pink and safe in Barbie land but when Barbie went to the real world she was faced with the feeling of pain, sadness, embarrassment, aging and uncertainty; all those emotions are acceptable and totally okay

Let’s talk about the men

In Barbie land all the men were called ken and they were not as respected as Barbie because it was Barbie’s world. Barbie could do whatever she wants including not paying attention to Ken if she didn’t want to ( which I don’t agree with and I don’t think was a good idea because Ken became resentful and started to hate Barbie for being ignored all the time) as a woman I don’t like the idea of using men for my personal gain (it’s not being a pick me but this is real life situations) even though I believe that I should be in control of my body and my life but I don’t think it’s fair to treat a man poorly just to feel better about myself. I don’t like playing with a man’s ego for fun because we all have feelings and I wouldn’t want to treat someone a way that I wouldn’t to be treated.

In this movie it showed that men also feel lost, they also cry and they also feel alone at times and that is totally okay. I don’t expect my man to have everything figured out which is why I love men who express themselves and let go of of being the alpha male; let me see the real you and don’t be afraid to be vulnerable with me because this is a safe place, you can cry and scream or whatever.

All of those are human emotions and it is okay to feel the pain and to cry no matter what gender you are. Men can cry and it should be acceptable in society for a man to cry because they are hurting inside.

The fact that the ceo who made Barbie was all men explain the stereotype of Barbie. Women were dressed by men! Men expect women to have long lucious hair and heels. Women are not always perfect we feel lost sometimes, we cry because we feel all alone, we stay home in our pyjamas and cry while watching tv, we listen to music to block out the world. We wear flats, we feel bloated, we have periods, we go see our gynecologist, we have acne, we have belly fats and we have emotional issues and that is totally okay. We are still beautiful we can have a bad hair day today and look stunning the next day. We don’t live in Barbie land we live in the real world !

In the movie, Barbie world changed and Ken became the leaders, Barbie became depressed and started to have real mental health problems which was new to her because everything used to be perfect, that change pushed Barbie to find herself and to realize that she didn’t want the things she thought she wanted. For example some woman don’t want to get married or have babies and that is totally okay. All women don’t have the same dreams and aspirations; men need to understand that they can’t all put all the women in one box. We all different! Stop telling me what you think I need ! I know what I need so let me figure this out on my own.

Sometimes the men have to find themselves like Ken did; honestly I don’t want to date anyone who’s not actively working on themselves or someone who thinks therapy is the worse thing. As a man you have to work on yourself, you don’t have to be perfect and I don’t expect you to be either but please take time to work on your issues before you try to date me.

Men are always ready to show us how to do things and we basically live in a world where men make all the decision or at least they try to. But in Barbie and even in the current world women are actively working to have control over their lives and to actually have an opinion instead of waiting for the men to tell us what to or to take care of us. We as women can work, provide for ourselves, raise kids in our own, live the life that we want without trying to please other men.  For example as women we can’t express ourselves sexually or we will be seen as a whore but men can fully talk about what the want. I am pro marriage before sex but I won’t judge anyone who doesn’t believe in that; we all have the power to chose.

In the end Barbie chose herself and did exactly what she wanted to do. I am Barbie and Barbie is me ;)
