My thoughts on Juneteenth

I want to start by saying I do not celebrate or take part in any holiday celebrations. Juneteenth to me is a joke! So because I am black I should be glad that they gave me a day to be proud of who I am? Same with black history month! I think both of those  holidays came from a place of racism because you don’t give a white man a month to celebrate himself. Why do black people need the shortest month  of the year or even any month in the year to feel recognized?

I don’t need a month nor a day to celebrate my life! I am grateful daily to be alive because I know at any given moments I could cease to exist so therefore I thank God daily for being alive. I don’t need a day nor a month to celebrate my blackness. Let me  just say this I don’t see color! I see everyone for who they are and I do not discriminate anyone based on their race or skin color. When I am talking to someone I don’t look at what their race is, I care more about the connection and the person’s personality.

Whoever gave us Juneteenth can keep it but I’ll take the day off.
