Hey you guys,
I am choosing to talk about this topic because it means a lot to me, and I want to express my thoughts. I do suffer from mild OCD, it's not bad to the point where I have to wash my hands 100 times a day. My symptoms are with order and routine. for example:
- I park in the same spot and if I have to park somewhere else, I will feel so uneasy. especially at my apartment complex. I'll get over it eventually but at first it will bother me.
- if I forget to bring an item with me, my day is ruined! I need it ugh I need it I won't be able to function
- if someone takes my spot at the gym on Mondays when I do my dumbbells work out, I feel lost! mad and even upset but that's a good thing because when I am mad, I take it out on myself what better way to do it by lifting heavier? so in a way that works out.
- I am a creature of habits, if you're close to me you will know what I am doing all hours of the day without you asking because I always do it the same way every time. Each day is already planned out: I watch certain shows on some days, I eat a certain things on some days... If I do it differently, I won't be able to function properly. I need order in all of my things. I need a clean space otherwise I will go insane!
- if I am doing a set at the gym and miscounted, I have to start over otherwise I did nothing lol!
The moment I realize what works for me is the moment I truly became free; I know I can't rest until things are perfect. I can't relax unless I do certain things around the house or things that need to get done.
I was misdiagnosed before because when I am really depressed, I do certain things over and over again but it's more of a soothing mechanism than it is attributed to OCD.
