Signs you’re in a toxic relationship
Being in a toxic relationship is scary, at first you may not know that you are in one because of the love you have for the person, and sometimes even after realizing that it may still be hard for you to leave. But I am here to tell you that no marriage is worth more than your life and no one is supposed to treat you like trash. You are extraordinary and God took his time to create you, don’t even feel like you have to stay with someone to please them or because you are afraid of what people will think. Always put yourself first and walk away, your safety is your priority.
here are some subtle signs.
- Your partner calls you non stop when you are out hanging out with other people and they get really upset when you don’t pick up the phone even when you tell them you’re hanging out with friends.
- Your partner yells at you instead of communicating with you about an issue.
- Your partner calls you names and is emotionally abusive for example they may call you (stupid, not good enough, ugly) don’t ever let anyone abuse you emotionally or even physically.
- Your partner hit an object near you. Always remember first they hit something near you and then they hit you so don’t wait around to find out.
- Your partner has anger issues and they take it out on you. Anyone who has an anger issue and who is not willing to work on it is dangerous. That person can kill you in a fit of rage; baby just leave.
- They drive recklessly when you’re in the car anyone who doesn’t take life seriously is dangerous!
- They dictate everything you do! From what you wear to what you eat! That is soooo toxic never let anyone have power over you. Even God gave you the power to choose what you want so don’t let men tell you what to do with your life.
- They hate everything you do. If they are always criticizing you and they want to change you then that is sooo toxic and it shows you are not right for each other
- they want to know all your friends, which is not a bad thing but it becomes toxic when they always think you are cheating and they stop you from hanging out with them.
- they gaslight you when you try to tell them something that they are doing wrong, they try to make you think that you don't know what you are talking about instead of answering the question or instead of explaining what really happened.
- they threaten to kill you or to kill themselves if you ever try to leave.
- they become friends with your family quickly so that when you have a problem they can make your family turn against you
- if you feel like you are sleeping with the enemy then you probably are, leave and never come back.
- you feel like you only stay with your partner for the kids involve, I know it sucks to start over when you already have your family and your kids feel safe but what about you? are you safe? it may feel selfish for you to leave because that would mean the kids wouldn't have both parents under one roof but imagine your kids not having you around at all? that is even more selfish. Protect yourself and your babies.
