I love this movie so much! It’s on Netflix.

Spoiler alert 

This story is about a boy named Joseph who’s an albino in Africa they called them “mwabi” a very degrading term. The history of hate crimes towards people with albinism is very common in Africa. A lot of People treat them like ghost and they often try to kill them.

Joseph’s mother was pregnant and when she gave birth her husband was furious that the boy was not like the other kids. He threw her out of the house with the baby and got her a taxi; the man driving the taxi ask Joseph’s mom where she was going but she had nowhere to go. The taxi man named David took both Joseph and her mother in, married her and raised Joseph as his own. 

Joseph was homeschooled for a long time because her mother was afraid of what the other kids would do to him; she wanted to protect Joseph. But David wanted to have another child but Joseph’s mom (I forgot her name sorry!) didn’t want to have another child because she was traumatized by what her ex husband did to her; she was afraid that she would have another child just like Joseph. David was soooo sweet to both Joseph and his mother but the people from the neighborhood wasn’t! They didn’t like albinos. Joseph would watch the kids play outside from his window but he was never allowed to go; one night a group of kids gathered to tell story about a man in the neighborhood who they said would throw kids down the well they called him the “madman” Joseph was scared after that story.

One day Joseph snuck out to play with his toy that his dad gave him and the boys hit him and stole his toy because they were scared of him they called him a “mwabi “ It was so sad what happened to Joseph but David thought it would be better if Joseph go out more to see other kids perhaps they would get used to him. The mother did not agree at first, but another day Joseph snuck out again to get his toy back from the kids who stole it the first time, he was so brave! He grabbed his toy and ran but he ran into the madman’s house. The kids got scared when they saw the madman coming out and ran away; Joseph was begging him not to throw him down the well but soon enough Joseph realize it was all rumors! The madman was actually nice! He even let him see his piano and he played music for Joseph 

Joseph was eventually enrolled at a school and made a new friend named Sharon she was soo kind to him; they were inseparable. But some men in the neighborhood saw Joseph walking home from school with Sharon and plotted to hurt Joseph one day. Sharon never left Joseph’s side and Joseph also kept going to the madman’s house to learn music lessons, the madman told Joseph that he had a lot of talent. But one day while walking home from school a group of men attacked Joseph and Sharon was there she ran to get help, people came just in time before those bad guys cut off Joseph’s leg. They were arrested and Joseph was taken into the hospital; he was fine but he had to have crutches to get around. Joseph told his mom that he has been learning music lesson with the madman and his mom was skeptical about wether or not the madman sent those men to attack David  and she told the madman to stay away from her son( she didn’t know the madman well enough she didn’t know how kind he was) Joseph went to see the madman but he told Joseph to go home and to be safe, he also gave the boy his guitar to learn music on his own. Joseph was sad about losing his friend the madman,  but his wound from his leg was healing; his mother and David went out of town for some business and left aunty Brenda to watch Joseph while they were away. 

Joseph went back to school but aunty Brenda came to get him early because something terrible has happened ! Joseph mother and adoptive father David have died ! Joseph was sooo sad but after the funeral he overhead people saying that David was not his real dad and that his father  was alive and well also he also had a lot of money. Soon enough both of the deceased family reunited and came to an agreement that Joseph needed to go live with his father because they didn’t have enough money to raise him. 

Aunty Brenda and Joseph’s uncle dropped him off at his father’s house by this time Joseph father had a little change of heart and he accepted to take his son in but he already had a wife and kids. His wife was not so pleased and eventually the wife made the maid put money in Joseph room to frame him for stealing money; the wife made Joseph dad beat him for what happened but in Joseph’s father’s heart he knew Joseph wouldn’t have done such a thing. He then sent his son off to boarding school away from his step mother but he never visited Joseph. Eventually Joseph made new friends and kept singing and playing his guitar he became really good! One day he ran into Sharon in the hallways at school and they picked up right where they left off. Joseph became really popular with his music and people everywhere wanted to meet him. He had a concert and it was sold out! His father came to apologize to him and at first Joseph was upset but eventually he forgave his father and went on to perform ! He was amazing even the madman was watching at home in his tv.

After the concert Joseph went back to his old neighborhood to see the madman and to thank him for being a friend when he had no one !

I love this movie sooooooo much omg I’m crying. I thought little Joseph was soooo adorable ! He looked like the perfect drawing. He’s soooo cute ;)
