Nightmare at ulta

Last week I went to ulta to get my skin care products and  I needed help with a perfume because I couldn’t find a tester. A woman came to help  me and she told me that I Couldn’t spray the perfume inside because there are nuts in it and some people might be allergic, she told me to go spray it outside which was fine with me because I totally understand that a lot of people have nuts allergies. She appreciated my understanding and she was very nice to me then she said “ wow you speak beautifully, I love your accent where are you from” to be honest my accent is not that strong but I do have one because English is not my first language. I told her that I am Haitian and immediately her demeanor changed, at that point I understood clearly! You know why? Because Trump said the Haitian immigrants are eating cats and dogs, she’s probably thinking all Haitians ate pets at one point in their lives. I’m not saying that’s what she was thinking but when she looked me up and down I was almost sure that I could read her thoughts! She then proceeded to completely ignored the fact that I am from Haiti to tell me “oh yeah I have some friends from Kenya” like ma’am that’s not what I said at all! I’m not from Africa the mother land  I’m from the Caribbean ! But anyway I was like yeah I have some friends from there too, trying to act like she didn’t just call me African! Although I may have African descendants because Africa is such a wide continent who knows!?

Needless to say she wasn’t as nice to me anymore but she tried ! And no I didn’t buy the perfume.

I watched the presidential debate and immediately after I heard trump said that I knew this was going to cause problems for a lot Haitian immigrants! I’m not ashamed to be Haitian I love my country if it wasn’t for the violence I would totally live there. We have beautiful beaches, beautiful scenery! It’s really a beautiful country but too bad the people are ruining it! It’s always tropical ! The sun shine so bright! The food is amazing! Ugh I miss it. I miss my home so much and all my family who are there! Anyway back to my frustration. As a Haitian myself I never ate cats and dogs as you all know I am obsessed with cats! And I love dogs a lot too. I grew up with a lot of pets in my house! We even had bunnies! That’s why I love animals so much because my family love them and so that was instill in me. Eating pets is not part of our culture but I would be lying if I said some Haitians never ate a dog or a cat just like some people kill other people, some actually kill pets and eat them that doesn’t mean all Haitians do it. You know what’s mess up in all of this? There was a protest in Springfield Ohio because of what trump said and people are sending death threats to some Haitians, parents who are Haitian immigrants are forced to take their kids out of school because of all the bullying !  I never wanted to eat a cat in my entire life I see them as babies! I love all cats! Big or small lol even dogs too!
