This is a book review by Colleen Hoover and you must know by now how much I love her! I've read 4 books by her in less than 5 months. I think she is an amazing writer and she inspires me while I am writing my own novel. I love the way she describes her characters it's like they are actual people even though the story is fiction I kind of see myself in those characters. Her stories are not clichés but rather they are all well thought out and well written.
I specifically love this book because I find myself so much in Miles the main character and also in Tate the main character. I read this book in 2 days at work and I kind of wish I read it at home because I was interrupted multiple times and I really wanted to cry in some parts (let me tell you a secret I did go to the bathroom and cry a little but no one can know about this!) Basically Miles the main character had a tragic past and he fell in love for the first time with a girl name Rachel, they were both 17 or 18 in high school. They met during senior year and she had just moved from phoenix and he was the one who escorted her to class, turns out Miles's dad knows Rachel's mom and they had been in a relationship long distance for a whole year! so the messed-up part was when Miles find out the girl he fell in love is about to become his step-sister! but that didn't stop them from dating, they just kept it a secret. sadly, Rachel got pregnant at 18 and they both had to tell their parents. The parents were not happy considering they just got married on the same day that their kids chose to tell them that she was pregnant, and Miles was honest with his dad and told him it was his...
eventually, they moved out after graduation and they got an apartment together while Miles was in school to become a pilot but one night Rachel's water broke and Miles took her to the hospital to have the baby. Everything went well and they had a baby Boy named Clayton the same name as the high school teacher Miles was bringing Rachel to the first time they met! How cute!! but on the way home, they got into an accident and the car ended up in a lake. Rachel was stuck in her seat with her seatbelt and Miles was trying to get her out before the water completely got in the whole car but he couldn't save both Rachel and the baby at once; he tried saving the baby but he couldn't find him so he got Rachel out instead... every day after that night became too painful to live through until eventually, Rachel went back To Phoenix leaving Miles heartbroken and in pain.
6 years later...
Miles is now a pilot and he lives across From Cobin Tate's brother. He got to meet Tate one night while he was passed out drunk in front of Cobin's apartment. Tate let him in after Cobin told her it was fine, cobin was a very overprotective brother! and the only reason he was fine with Miles being alone with his sister Tate is that he thought Miles was gay! simply because Miles never mention a woman in the time that cobin knew him. Turns out Miles never try to be with anyone after Rachel so he remained closed off to love and anything that could potentially make him feel something. But when he met Tate all of that changed, he began lying to himself that he could never love anyone again and Tate begin to fall for him more each day even if he begged her not to love him. He came saying that he couldn't give her anything more than physical but she stayed hoping he would change (Gosh I feel bad for Tate!)
eventually, Miles came to the realization that he has to meet with Rachel again to see if she was okay in order for him to move on from the past. He was carrying the pain of losing his child and he was worried that he had hurt Rachel because she blamed him for the loss of their child. when he finally meets her and he started to realize that he had to let go of the past since Rachel is married now and she also has a daughter. Miles went back to Tate and he told her about his past, he let himself fall in love with her. They got married and they are now expecting their first child!
That book made me cry...
