The hidden cost of black hair.

Aside from black women spending money on hair extensions whether it’s a weave, braids, wigs; hair products are also expensive especially if you want a quality product.

Let’s start with the protective hairstyles …

A black woman spend somewhere around 100-600$ for braids at a hair salon as well as weave installation or wigs installments… we spend so much money to hide our hair for maybe 1-2 months only to take out the extensions to wash it and conditioned it with expensive products.

I love to change my hair, I love how versatile my hair is but it really does cost a lot! And time consuming as well.

Lately I have been feeling really exhausted and sitting on a chair for 6 hours on a chair to get my hair done  doesn’t really appeal to me :(

I used to perm my hair or use a hair chemical in late 2020-2021 and immediately after I put the chemical in my Afro hair I regretted it because my hair looked so live less and too straight ! But I had to see it through and I couldn’t go back on my decision so I kept putting more chemicals until my hair fell out and became damaged! The chemicals really destroyed my hair and I could have gotten sick with those chemicals! I do love my curls more and more each day ! And I love how thick and coarse my hair is. I just think my hair is uniquely beautiful and the minute I start to focus in the beauty in it is the minute my hair started to flourish.

I am not saying we shouldn’t use hair extensions because I use it at times! And I think it is a great way to give your hair a break but please don’t forget your hair in that protective hairstyle because you still need to take care of it!

Sincerely a black girl with very thick hair :)

Easy love.

I don’t want that struggling love where I have to fight for your attention and  your affection. I don’t want to be the one making more efforts than you while you’re living your life not thinking of me. I want that sure thing, you know that exciting feeling you get when you receive a present and you cannot wait to open the package ? That’s what I want to be for you.

Dating advice for something serious

Publié par Gaelle.R

Dating advice from a girl who’s never been in a relationship; do with that what you will but this is how I roll. Men is not a priority for me if it was I would’ve been in a relationship already, I see men as a distraction right now because I am trying to grow emotionally, becoming even more confident and cultivate self love. I am prioritizing myself. So here’s my advice for the girlies:

  • Hide your crazy. Don’t show him that you’re crazy because that brings a lot of drama in the relationship. If he does something you don’t like first take note of it but if he keeps doing it and if it’s serious ask him to meet you face to face to discuss the issue; when you meet with him tell him exactly what he did wrong and watch out for his reaction because the reason why I suggest to meet with him is because you want to know if when he does something wrong if he cares. Does he listen? Does he try to deflect? Belittle the problem? Chose to be on his phone while you talk? If he does those things then you know he does not care so just walk away. Don’t waste your time entertaining a man who doesn’t even care about you; if you are in the talking stage with him and he does something wrong say nothing because he owes you nothing. If what he did bothered you walk away and say nothing; don’t say anything while you’re upset and when you’re calm if it was serious then make a decision to either walk away or put him in the friend zone until he change his actions but don’t talk to him daily. Limit phone conversation because that guy made you upset before you even get in a relationship with him who knows what else he can do to you? The fact that you are upset shows that he has a lot of power over you. Take some time for yourself and give him space.
  • When you first meet, a guy don't talk to him every day that is the perfect way to get attached and we don’t want that. If he doesn’t text you or call you then you don’t call or text. If he texts you don’t spend the whole day talking to him, tell him you’re working or doing something after you had a good conversation with him. If he calls you make sure you end the call; don’t spend more than 50 minutes talking to him. Tell him you have to go and that it was nice talking to him. If he wants to talk to you more or get to know you more trust me, he will ask you out; the goal is for him to ask you out not for him to keep filling your ears with sweet words and making you fall for him. Guys love to talk your ears off, and girls love all of that good stuff and we fall in love with words so limit that! You want a man that will show you instead of telling you.
  • Men are hunters! if he wants you, he will call, text and he will make an effort. If you limit the text and calls he might even say " I want to get to know you, how can I do that" and that's what you let him know that you like to communicate more in person with people than on the phone. in the 1950's there was no cell phones that you could text someone daily yet that was when the best relationships happened! you wanna know why? because the men were making the effort to meet their love interest they were not plying phone tags. A letter would take weeks before it arrived to the recipient so they would rather just meet the person.
  • as a girl remember that you are the prize!! he should be chasing you not the other way around, let him chase you and let him work for it because no one would give away something valuable easily so consider yourself your most valuable possesion and hold on to it until you get the price you're looking for, don't lower you price or your standards for any man. Don't change for any man be up front about who you are and if he doesn't like it then he is not the right one for you. Always be yourself and never try to be someone that you are not.
  • If after one month of you ending the call after 50 minutes and not texting him daily, he doesn’t ask you out then he’s not interested, that’s okay just move on and find someone else.
  • Tell him you don’t like talking on the phone even if you do just don’t talk to him on the phone. Tell him if he wants to get to know you then he has to meet you in person but you’re not doing phone tags with him. Stand on your words, don’t say that and then keep texting him or calling you’re showing him that you don’t know what you’re want. If you say something then mean it! Be about it! If he doesn’t ask you out then you know for sure he’s not interested because if he was he would’ve asked you out. You want to meet with the guy instead of letting yourself getting attached to someone you probably not physically attracted to. You can fall in love with someone on the phone but when you meet them there’s no spark! So let’s avoid that.
  • If he ask you out don’t be too eager to say yes; think about it first and say either yes or no. If he ask you on the phone ask him which day and time don’t just say yes and then he never even act on it. Ask him what day and time and where you’re going if he doesn’t know tell him to find that out and ask you out properly. If he ask you to pick the place DON’T! Tell him he has to chose since he’s the one taking you out. But don’t be rude about it say it in a nice and flirty tone. Never yell at him or tell him what to do let him show you what he can do. You want a man who can take action and stand on his words. If he cancel the date short notice without a good excuse take a while before you allow him to take you out again and decrease the phone conversations. Miss a few phone calls or stop replying quickly to a few text because he stood you up and cancel last minute. You don’t want that, because in the future he might not be reliable and you want a man that shows up for you.

Long distance + not long distance

  • If you meet a guy who’s far away the rule is changing: 1) don’t talk to him at 12am in both your time and his time. Even if he says it’s okay ! Don’t do it because at midnight that’s when the conversation can turn juicy and you don’t want to get attached to him by revealing too much about yourself.
  1. stay mysterious: don’t tell him about your past unless he ask, don’t tell him about your past trauma even if you trust him ( I made that mistake so you don’t have to) don’t talk too much about yourself if he doesn’t ask you about your life; let him ask questions so you know what his interest are. Is he asking you about your family? Or about what your type is? First question is good ! Second question is a no! You never reveal to man what your type is and you if you do say something like “ someone who’s good I guess” no details! No one can fake being good you can see right through it. If he wants to know about what kind of man you’re attracted to “ say looks doesn’t matter but his character is what I look at” even if looks matter because it always matter lol but don’t say oh a man who’s 6’3 or tall with muscles like no! You’re not shopping for a man lol.
  2. Take things slow; treat him exactly how he treats you. He doesn’t call then don’t, he doesn’t ask how you are then don’t. The reason why you’re doing this in the talking stage is to see just how much he cares about you. If you don’t want to be friends then don’t act like his friend!
