My dad loves coffee, patties, biscuits. One day at the hospital I introduced him to chili soup and he loved it. Saturdays used to be our day ( it was our father and daughter day) he used to call me « my princess » « my girl » and many other cute names. In high school he paid for my phone even if I never used the phone… he left me a voicemail saying «  I love you » I replay it daily especially when I feel alone.

The love I have for my dad is special, he was my rock by just knowing he was there I felt like I had someone. It’s 2 am and I am crying because I miss him. I feel a hole in my heart… my numbness is wearing off a little bit. I still can’t bring myself to delete his phone numbers in my phone. I want to see him, I want to tell him how much I love hm and how sorry I am.

The downside of therapy.

As you all know, I am very keen on going to therapy, but I have my reasons for that, but the same way I push myself and others to go to therapy I also have a few reasons why therapy may not be necessary. The only reason why I think it’s necessary for me to go to therapy is to talk to someone and to be brutally honest with at least one person, to say exactly how I feel instead of concealing everything in. To be honest if I had someone that I trusted who was near me I wouldn’t need to go to therapy because a therapist cannot fix me. I need to work on myself …

My problem with some therapist is that they never want you to feel like anything is your fault even if it is because they don’t want to hurt your feelings! they want you to come back, one way for you to keep coming back is when you feel like your feelings are validated and you know that your therapist is on your side. How are you helping me if you are not honest with me? Agreeing with everything I say is not helping me to solve my problems! true I pay for my session but at least tell me I messed up! tell me the reasons why family hates me is because I am in fact the problem and tell me a few things that I can improve on. The only time a therapist should be on your side is when you are open up about your past traumas especially if you were a child, then that really wasn't your fault if you couldn't do anything to save yourself. But if you are abusive to your wife there is no way your therapist should just give you a pat on the back and give you a prescription to relax!

The purpose of therapy is to open up about everything you want to share and for them to give you some sort of advice, but if I am telling you my problem and you're just listening without trying to come up with ways for me to cope than I can just call a friend and vent! I know a therapist cannot fix me but at least give me some sort of advice.

La bellissima Malèna

Publié par Gaelle.R

Malèna

This is a beautiful coming of age Italian movie. I have been learning Italian, I think it’s a beautiful language. I have been listening to a lot of Italian music and watching Italian movies with subtitles the same way I did when I was learning English.

I love this movie soooo much it is one of my favorite movies! The main character Malèna played by Monica Bellucci a beautiful Italian actress. This movie is based on the story of a woman in the 1940s, Malèna was married to a soldier who was never around after they got married and one day she got the news that he was killed in battle. She was a widow and because she was so beautiful, people started gossiping about her and calling her all sorts of names. The women envy her and were jealous of her; the men lust after her but she never bothered anyone. Until her father disown her because of all the rumors that she was a whore around town which was false. There was a boy named Renato  who was so infatuated with her; he knew the truth because he used to follow Malèna around town. He knew she was faithful to her husband. She was always sad, lonely but extremely beautiful. One day she started dating one of the lieutenants, she invited him over to her house. One night while the lieutenant was leaving her house he crossed path with the dentist who was right outside Malèna’s door spying on her. Both the dentist and the lieutenant fought, the people came to break the fight and they blamed it all on Malèna. ( the boy has been watching the whole thing) the town sued Malèna for breaking up a family but she won because she had a good lawyer even though she didn’t have enough money to pay the lawyer. Because she didn’t have enough money the lawyer forced himself on her… then it all went south. Malèna cut her hair and started sleeping with some men for food because her father died and she had no one. One day she was with the Germans the women in town drag her out in her undergarments and beat her. They cut her hair, hit her with their shoes… she was all bloody and no one helped her. So she left town but then her husband came back!

Everyone was shocked because they thought he was dead. He started looking for his wife Malèna but no one wanted to tell him what happened but Renato wrote him a letter and told him his wife had left town and he also told him where she might be. The husband quickly left town to find Malèna.

1 year later,

To everyone’s surprised The husband came back with his beautiful wife Malèna on his arm ! Everyone was shocked ! How can this be? She is still beautiful? She’s so brave? But wait she put on some weight? She’s not as glamorous. Malèna never fought anyone! They said hi to her and she looked straight into their eyes and said hi back.

I really think they felt bad when Malèna came back with her husband. She was still recovering from what happened because she didn’t walk the same but she was still beautiful and courageous. Her story inspire me to always be brave no matter what and to never let anyone’s bad intention dim my light. People will talk no matter what but as long as I am happy that’s all that matters.

“Let’s stay in, play truth or dare.

Get drunk on bad wine.

Dance all night while we’re tipsy.

Hold me close and never let go.

Whisper sweet words with stolen kisses.”
