Now that a huge part of the holidays are over and I am sane again let’s debunk everything and the reasons why I don’t celebrate Christmas as well as my birthday.
As you all should know by now I am a Jehovah witness and I am proud to be because each day I am reminded of Jehovah’s love and all the reasons why I should keep going down this path. Let’s talk about Christmas first aside from my religious beliefs which made me believe that Christmas is unnecessary and it is a holiday people made up to feel better about themselves and to force people to exchange gift. Let me not be morbid about it because I want you to keep reading, if you are a die hard fan of Christmas then please pay attention I want to tell you some facts about this holiday you love so much, not that it will make a difference to you as I fully expect you to click off this article and celebrate Christmas again next year. Baby steps I just want you to be aware of some things
- Christmas is supposed to be a Christian holiday so if you are Jewish then you probably have Hanukah but let’s focus on Christmas for now. This holiday is supposed to be about the birth of Jesus and the gift exchange stems from the gifts given by the 3 wise man to baby Jesus which all happened but not on December 25! If the dates are wrong then how is this supposed to be a legit holiday? One thing we are certain of is that Jesus was in fact born on earth by Mary when God sent his only son to save us from all of our sins to die for us on earth but wait, was it in December ? The actual date of Jesus being born is truly unknown unless you ask Mary but she’s not here to say. The Bible doesn’t specifically say which day Jesus was born which lead me to believe that it was not important and the whole idea of making a big deal about the day you were born is unnecessary. But the Bible gave us some clues which lead me to believe that Jesus was not born in the winter or in December. Sorry to get all biblical on you but if this is a Christian holiday we should at least consult the Bible don’t you think? One clue we need to consider : Shortly before Jesus was born, Caesar Augustus issued a decree ordering “all the inhabited earth to be registered.” Everyone had to register in “his own city,” which might have required a journey of a week or more that can be found luke 2:1-3 if this all happened in December it is unlikely that Augustus would have provoked his subjects further by forcing many of them to make long trips during the cold winter
- Shepherds were “living out of doors and keeping watches in the night over their flocks this is found in Luke 2:8 flocks lived in the open air from “the week before the Passover which is late March through mid-November. They passed the winter under cover; and from this alone it may be seen that the traditional date for Christmas, in the winter, is unlikely to be right, since the Gospel says that the shepherds were in the fields.
If all those clues exist for us to see in the Bible then why is Christmas in December ?
Since there is no evidence that the birth of Jesus Christ occurred on December 25, The Encyclopædia Britannica says that church leaders probably chose it “to coincide with the pagan Roman festival marking the ‘birthday of the unconquered sun,’” at the time of the winter solstice. According to The Encyclopedia Americana, many scholars believe that this was done “in order to make Christianity more meaningful to pagan converts
From what I can see here Christmas was created by people to worship many things but none of them was actually about Jesus Christ. Christmas alone is a huge financial boost for the country as everyone is buying gift for people they know which allows the economy to grow and every ads on tv screen or social media is pushing you to buy something for anyone that you know. What makes it worse is that if you celebrate Christmas all you expect is to receive gifts and if someone doesn’t give you a gift you are offended!

It’s not special if you are expecting it!
You get mad if someone doesn’t wish you a merry Christmas or if that one person you thought loved you didn’t give you a Christmas gift! That is not very Christian like is it? Because no one owes you anything! A gift should be from the kindness of your heart not because you are expected to give one. That takes all the fun out of it! I know people who have contest on who gave the best gift!? Why should it matter? When Mary accept the gift from the wise man she didn’t look at it and say oh it’s just blankets? No she appreciated all the gift because she needed it.
One big clue I forgot to mention is that Jesus was born in a stable where donkeys and other animals are kept then Mary wrapped baby Jesus and lays him in a manger all of this wouldn’t have been possible in the cold ! It would’ve been very unsafe for a pregnant woman to give birth in such a cold environment and God wouldn’t have allowed his son to be born this way.
Christmas happening in the winter is very convenient because you have snow which makes it prettier then on top of all of that nonsense you get to purchase a Christmas tree to have in your living room for a couple of weeks but then waking up the day after Christmas feeling total disgust when you look at that tree because Christmas is over and now you have to take all of it down. Where did the Christmas tree idea come from? Did Jesus have a Christmas tree where he was born? Well certainly not since he was born in a stable. Well to answer the first question Christmas tree wasn’t originated form the Bible at all it came from a German guy who thought it would be a great idea to chop down a tree and put a bunch of lights on it just for fun because I guess it looked good? This all happened in the 1820s so I couldn’t tell you his state of mind but needless to say someone came up with it then the rest of the people followed. Are we following a trend now? As a Christian we should be following Jesus christ not people ! But hey who cares many people know this but still choose to ignore it and celebrate Christmas every year.
Birthdays.
Well it doesn’t help that my birthday falls the day before Christmas. You might be shocked by this revelation but I celebrated my birthday before and it felt so weird.

It didn’t feel right in my spirit because I couldn’t tell you why I did it! Aside from the provocative clothing which I don’t dress like this anymore ! I didn’t even eat the cake in the picture ! It was disgusting! This was my liberal phase.
I did it because I thought it would be fun, I would have a photo shoot like the one above before the day of my birthday just so I could post the pictures on my birthday on every possible social media I have so that people can then wish me a happy birthday, then I would expect my best friend at the time to also post me on her social media page to wish me a happy birthday ! The entitlement! Ugh celebrating birthdays in my opinion is so attention seeking ! I don’t mind if on your birthday you sit down by yourself and think about your whole life as you just turn 1 year older but to me it is just a normal day! Nothing else. What’s more important is how you live your life not the actual day you were born, it is a miracle that you are here but God wanted you to be here ! He created you so just be thankful that’s all!
Celebrating one’s birthday has a sense of narcissism to it in my opinion it’s like this is my day! I expect a party and I expect cake! Uhm again no one owes you anything! Just be glad you are alive because many people didn’t get to live the age you just turned, some people might say that’s why they are celebrating but wait! Isn’t it more genuine if you expect nothing and still feel grateful? Why suddenly I expect everyone I know to call me to wish me a happy birthday and to stop talking to them if they don’t call me?! The world doesn’t revolve around me! People have real life problems so what if they forget me on my birthday? It’s just a day to me. As a Christian I am following the footsteps of Christ he didn’t once mentioned his birthday, to the point where no one knows what day it was ! He was very humble about it, he asked us to celebrate his death as a way to remember his sacrifice to us and how we have a chance at an everlasting life but not once did he say celebrate my birthday as a way to remember me! So no birthdays are not important to me and so is Christmas.
