dressing for the male gaze

Publié par Gaelle.R

As a woman the way that I dress can say a lot about me and I am aware of that; same goes for men but I will talk about my own experience because clearly, I am not a man lol. I know the feminist movement agrees that " my body my choice so I can wear whatever I want and do whatever I want with my body" cool I don't have a problem with that but when it comes to my body, I will care enough about what I put on it and how I present it.

dressing for the male gaze is basically dressing a way to attract male attention for example: wearing clothes that are really tight, revealing clothing, butt popping out, breast exposed... all of that attract the male attention. They will look because all of that is pleasing to their eyes, but do they care about you as a person? yeah, I don't think so; they're more worried about what they can do with your body not so much about your heart. Disclaimer: I am not judging anyone; we all can choose how we want to live life, but this is solely my opinion. As a Christian, I opt to dress modestly because this is not my body anymore, I am living for Jehovah, and I want to present it the best way that I can; I am not perfect some days I may slip up and wear something that is really tight but deep down I know it was probably wrong. Naturally I hate clothes that doesn't fit my body well because I feel like my figure doesn't look pleasing to my eyes but am I thinking of the male gaze?

Wearing something revealing will get me the attention but that's not what I want, I want a man who genuinely cares for me and value me. I don't want to be a fling; I want to become the wife. I am getting older, and I no longer want to have fun, I would rather a man sees the beauty that lies in my heart more than the outside, but my appearance will always be the first thing they see, I don't have a problem with what I look like.

natural hair struggles

Publié par Gaelle.R

As a naturalista, I can't afford to neglect my hair for more than a week because it gets really dry because the curlier your hair is the more it gets dry fast then it will break off. I don't have loose curls; they are really tight coils that shrinks during this humidity. I don't mind my shrinkage because it shows how healthy my hair is and I am proud to say it is doing good despite the color I have at the ends but it's growing out. This is what I need:

  • I need hair products to be at lower cost because omg it's expensive. It's more expensive to have curly hair than straight hair; my goal is to have a really big curly afro and the more hair you have the more products you use! for that I need to do a couple things.
  • deep condition my hair weekly and do the LOC method which is water, oil and cream then twist my hair to style it after. I enjoy doing my hair and it shows :)
  • I barely wear wigs or even braids now. I think I put all the focus on my hair, and I let it do what it wants.
  • for real prices for hair care should go down! food is already expensive.
  • Don't touch my hair especially in the winter! because I work so hard to keep it moisturized now your dirty fingers are messing it up. Unless I give you permission, please don't touch it!
  • I hate this humidity, it makes my hair looks shorter, but I mean it is still big but whatever...

This weekend was amazing, I had a convention; although I was very anxious at first because there was a lot of people but once I got there and seen familiar faces, I was okay. I thought was going to be sick lol but I ended up happier than I thought! Thank you, Jehovah, :) I met awesome people; I was so happy to see them again...
